I never expected this. I met Mark September of 1974. It was pure luck and a great day in my life to have met this fine man. At the beginning of our senior year in high school I was the last one to walk into electronics class and the only seat left was at the work bench next to Mark. We became lab partners and great friends for the rest of our lives.
That was a great school year and we did a lot together. We had tons of fun. Our friendship grew as time went on. If you look at out lives, we didn't have that much in common except for getting outdoors and having fun. I was collage bound and Mark was a hard working glass man, one of the best in the business.
I can honestly say that I can't ever remember having an argument or falling out with Mark.
We had the type of friendship where we didn't keep score. We didn't worry about who called who last or who's turn it was to return a favor. This went on for years and some times it would be five years in between contact with each other. When we did meet, we would pick up from where we left off. Mark was a true friend in every sense of the word.
I am lucky I was able to see Mark recently. Mark had moved up to the Keweenaw Peninsula where he married the love of his life Joni. In 2019 my son, Joey had decide to go to MTU in the Keweenaw. This gave us more opportunities to connect with each other and remminess. Well if it wasn't for Joey contacting Mark and asking for permission to hunt deer on their property, I wouldn't have been aware of Mark becoming very ill. Well of coarse without hesitation Mark said yes, you can hunt our poperty. Well shortly after that Mark went in for back surgery. The only reason I knew this was because Joey called and let me know. Mark wouldn't think of bothering me with his troubles. Rhonda and I were able to see Mark one last time before his passing.

Thank you Joni for being Marks wife and making him happy and being there for him.

I love you Mark and thank you for being Mark the friend you were.

Peace be with you.

If I should ever leave you whom I love, to go along the silent way, grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk if me as if I were beside you there.
I’d come- I’d come, could I but find a way, but would not tears and grief be barriers?
And when you hear a song or see a bird I loved, please do not let the thought of me be sad for I am loving you just as I always have, you were so good to me.
There are so many things I wanted still to do. So many things to say to you.
Remember that I did not fear, it was just leaving you that was so hard to face. We cannot see beyond, but this I know; I loved you so, t’was heaven here with you! Isla Richardson

I met mark when he had his shop on the corner in Hancock, by the now Mexican Restaurant. He was both a customer and a friend. We had many lunches together and he just fixed my windshield a few short weeks ago. His back was hurting him bad then. I am still shocked to see that he passed. I will miss his calls and miss seeing him. Rest in peace Mark. Gone way too soon. Joni, my sincere condolences.
