Obituary

Jamie Lin Kumpula, 41, daughter of James and Carol Kumpula passed away on Thursday November 19, 2020 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium.

She and her fiancé, Robert “Barney” Leskinen resided in Mohawk.

Jamie attended the Mohawk and Calumet schools. She was formerly employed at Fraki’s Market and Mohawk Superette. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Robert Kumpula of Eagle Harbor, Martha and Leonard “Asti” Harjala of Copper City, and Arvo and Lorraine Piirala of Mohawk.

Surviving are her parents, Jim and Carol Kumpula of Mohawk
Her sisters: Liisa (Shane) Jacques of Hancock
Amy (Aaron Waara) Kumpula of Ahmeek
her brother: Robert “Bob” (Mandy) Kumpula of Green Bay

Her nephew: Brendan Jacques of Hancock
Her nieces: Chelsea and Carli Jacques of Hancock, Jynessa Maninga of Ahmeek, Charlotte and Brynn Kumpula of Green Bay

Her fiancé: Robert “Barney” Leskinen of Mohawk

Along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her beloved dog, Fisher.

Jamie had a fun, loving spirit, and heart, she was always willing to help others. She signed up to be an organ/ tissue donor at the Gift for Life. She enjoyed her music, from the Bee Gees to country. Especially listening every Saturday night to Elmer Aho on the radio. Ronnie Milsap had the biggest fan in her too! She wrote him a letter and it was probably one of the biggest thrills of her life to receive a call from him, attend one of his concerts and get her Milsap hat.

She liked doing puzzle books, watching the Golden Girls, going to the casino, riding along the lake, long phone calls, cooking, baking, and to share her good food and recipes with her family and friends.

Jamie was always the sweetest and will be missed so much by all.

Per Jamie’s request there will be no visitation or funeral services.
