Bernice M. Johnson, 97, formerly of Calumet, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the home of her daughter in Gladstone.
She was born on February 17, 1923 in Allouez Twp., MI, daughter of Charles and Annie (Sarja) Jarvela.
Bernice married Armas M. Olli in 1939 and then following his passing in 1991, she married Arthur N. Johnson. He also preceded her in death.
Bernice enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, cooking and baking. Her compassion for others led her over the years to not only care for her own family but she took in many other families to help them as well. She was a loving caregiver to many.
She was Lutheran by faith.
Among survivors include her children, Marlene Seppala of Gladstone, Carol B. Poisson of Gladstone and Raynelle J. (David) Pechawer of Escanaba; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by her son Armas Jr. “Sonny”; her great granddaughter, Addelyn Olli; three infant siblings and five additional brothers and sisters.
In the spring, graveside services will take place in Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family with the arrangements.
